2025 AOG Leadership Conference Trip Report
From August 13–16, I had the privilege of representing the West Point Society of Washington at the 2025 AOG Leadership Conference, hosted by the Class of 1967. The theme, “One Link at a Time,” captured the spirit of the event—strengthening the ties between graduates, Societies, Parents Clubs, and the Field Force.
One of the most inspiring moments was hearing General Dan “Razon” Kane, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, speak on technology in the 21st century. His depth of strategic insight reminded me of the days when General Dempsey led from that same position—visionary, sharp, and deeply committed to the mission.
For our Society, the highlight was being recognized with the Distinguished Society Award for the 30th consecutive year. This milestone is not about any one person but is a tribute to the generations of leaders who came before me. Their dedication and commitment built a foundation that continues to carry us forward.
The conference also reinforced the importance of the 50-Year Affiliation Program—this year linking the Class of 1980 with the Class of 2030. I believe we can strengthen this connection locally by bringing the Class of 1980 into mentorship, march back, and Parents Club events for the Class of 2030.
It was also fulfilling to see AOG and Admissions jointly highlight the growing partnership between Societies and the Field Force—something we began pushing for in Washington back in 2023. This collaboration is vital to the future of admissions, mentorship, and building the Corps of tomorrow.
Representing our state’s Old Grads at this conference is always a distinct privilege. Each year strengthens my conviction that our best days as a Society are ahead. Together—one link at a time—we will continue to strengthen the Long Gray Line.
